What was the proposal like? We traveled to Quebec City for New Year’s Eve and stayed in a beautiful suite at Chateau Frontenac overlooking the St. Lawrence River.  Four years earlier we had spent our first New Year’s Eve together in Quebec City, so it already held a special place in our hearts as we had the most fun and romantic experience where we reminisced about returning.  Soon after we arrived and settled into our beautiful room there was a knock on the door and to my surprise, Don had coordinated for my sister to join us to spend her first night away from her 3-month-old baby in Quebec City for New Year’s Eve and to celebrate our engagement.  I was surprised with dinner reservations that evening at Le Saint-Amour where we had dined four years earlier, which is also rated in the top ten of Canadian traveler’s favorite dining restaurants and an icon of Quebec gastronomy.  We opted for the Chef’s menu with wine pairing as we had done in the past, which quickly turned our evening into a full dining event.  By the end of the dinner we were all so full that the thought of one more course was almost unbearable, but dessert was served with a note on my plate and Don getting down on one knee to pop the question.  It almost felt as though the other restaurant goers were in on the surprise because they all stopped eating to watch us in our moment and they broke out into a huge applause congratulating and celebrating with us.  We then spent two more days in Quebec City and quietly enjoyed our recent engagement only sharing the news with our closest friends and family.  It wasn’t until we returned from our trip that we published the news on social media as we wanted to spend our time in Quebec City living in the moment and celebrating our excitement with just each other.

How did you choose your venue? We both knew that we would prefer a more intimate wedding with our closest friends and family, which is why we decided on hosting a destination wedding.  I was more hesitant about planning a destination wedding as I knew that some of our loved ones would not be able to go and I also knew that the distance could be difficult for planning purposes.  When I began my venue search, I realized that I couldn’t imagine our wedding any other way than on a beach, which led us to our choice in celebrating in Barbados.

Romantic Pink Wedding Inspiration | Antique and Elegant Wedding Inspiration | Vermont Bride Magazine

A magnificent 17th century villa, cosily perched on a hilltop overlooking the green Umbrian valleys, makes for a stunning backdrop for this wedding inspiration. An delicate blend of freshness, delicate pastel shades, and a touch of elegance, but not too lavish. The marble work gleams in the sunshine creating well defined volumes; the details of the internal decor and the elegance of the original, antique wallpaper took us back in time to the pomp and splendour of life in an authentic Italian country Villa. The gown is a sheer, white classic gown, with just a crystal band around the waist – a perfect compliment to the beautiful surroundings . An antique veranda with splendid marble effect frescoes and romantic decor from the 1800s are alone a wonderful work of art, gloriously illuminated by an enormous glass window that overlooks the Italian style gardens. Despite being elaborately set, the table maintains a quality of lightness thanks to the clear glass tableware and the soft, delicate flowers of white hydrangeas, ranunculi, tulips, English roses and carnations.

We were friends for a few years, then started dating long-distance in 2011, i was in Vermont and he was in Philadelphia, I eventually moved to Philadelphia by the end of that summer.

What was the proposal like? Benjamin proposed on Christmas morning in our living room in Philadelphia. It was just the two of us and it was so personal and romantic I still can’t believe how surprised I was. It was so special!

Modern and Feminine Ballet Wedding Inspiration | Airy, Dreamy Pink and Blue Wedding Design | Vermont Bride Magazine

Initially inspired by the Pantone Colors of the Year, “Serenity” and “Rose Quartz”, this wedding inspiration photo shoot is soft, dreamy, and playful in nature. The soft, feminine pink and powdery blue complement each other so beautifully. Fluid and airy link the art of ballet, the classically modern backdrop of the Olympic Rooftop Pavilion provided a perfect canvas to bring the vision to life. The breezy open air patio gave the Sarah Seven gown from The Dress Theory the most ideal flowy and fluttery feel. Floaty, hanging, and free moving florals and modern details mixed with elegant, vintage feeling props come together with the pinks and blues to create an elegant and dreamy combination.

Bevin & Thom Real Vermont Wedding Inspiration | Rustic and Elegant Country Wedding in Dorset Vermont | Vermont Bride Magazine

How and where did you meet? We both worked at the Huntington Theatre Company together, though Thom likes to tell it that they really started talking and flirting when Bevin directed a play he wrote for another theatre company.

What was the proposal like? We’d been talking about marriage in the abstract for a while, so Thom eventually got around to buying a ring. A few days later — and before he had a chance to come up with any kind of grand scheme worthy of a proposal — he was sitting at his writing desk when Bevin walked over in a towel, fresh out of the shower. She was in a sentimental mood, crying as she spoke about something she wanted to do at that abstract future wedding, whenever it might be.

So naturally, Thom got up and walked away without a word, leaving her standing there, dripping wet and sobbing in a towel. (He doesn’t always think things through.)

This would have probably been the end of their relationship if he hadn’t returned with the ring he’d just bought, dropped down on one knee, and said, “Okay, so let’s do it.” Later, after they called their families, he would clarify that the “it” was “get married,” and officially asked her to marry him in a yes-or-no way to avoid any confusing.

Spring Wedding In the Woods Inspiration | Woodland Wedding Inspiration | Vermont Bride Magazine

This gorgeous woods wedding inspiration started with the Pantone 2017 colors of Kale, Greenery, and Pale Dogwood. With a color palette like that the thought of a woodland setting immediately springs to mind. The Fernwood Cellars' Redwood Retreat in Gilroy California was the perfect setting for bringing out all of the greens and browns. Paired with dramatic florals and ferns everything comes together to create a very romantic theme with a touch of mystery.

Patricia & Nicholas Real Vermont Wedding Inspiration | Vermont Country Wedding with a Barn | Vermont Bride Magazine

How and Where did you meet? Nicholas and I met back in High School- The first time we dated Patricia was 18 and Nicholas was 20- we were smitten with each other telling everyone we would marry all our family said it was just puppy love- as typical teens we broke up. A couple years later we dated again then dated long distance while Patricia was in Utah again we broke up. Lived life separately without any communication for nearly 9 years. Then a Facebook message changed that- Patricia Messaged Nicholas December 11, 2012 to see where and how He was. He actually responded- at that time I was living in West Palm Beach Florida and Nick was in Vermont with now a son; Evan he was 6 year old. He later would fly and we would reunite, truly 3rd time is a charm! We hit it off, almost like we never lost that connection and our love was still there. I moved back to Vermont and we moved in together July 13, 2013. By Dec 08. 2013 we found out we were pregnant creating our family!

What was the proposal like? After our daughter was born July 27, 2014 I was still wondering when will he propose? I gave him some guidelines- not on my birthday, not on a holiday and not in front of family or strangers! LOL Dec 18, 2014 Nicholas got on one knee and asked me if I would be by his side for the rest of our lives! He started celebrating I then asked would he like to know my answer LOL I said yes! MInd you I was just literally holding our daughter after nursing her and was getting us ready to visit santa in the Mall for a photo- so he totally caught me off guard.

Trash The Dress Inspiration | Florida Beach and Ocean Trash The Dress Photo Shoot | Vermont Bride Magazine

Clint and Bonnie, a newly wedded couple, drove straight from Idaho all the way down to Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Park in Florida to have this amazingly gorgeous trash the dress photo shoot with Our Day Wedding Photography. With the sandy beach, foamy waves, and a stunning sunset - this was an truly magical location to have fun and let loose for some great photos. Here are some words from the Bride; “My husband & I fell in love a little more, after an evening on the beach, smiling, kissing, staring into each others eyes, holding stunts and kisses that made us laugh, all while our amazing moments where being captured, to be memories we’d cherish forever.” Her advice; "While being photographed at the sea shore, don’t seek for perfection, relax & enjoy each other and your beautiful surroundings. The rest will fall into place, the wind will tangle your hair, into a tousled mess, the sand will cover your toes, your handsome husband will get a slight workout as he holds you tight in his arms above the waves, & it’s possible your fourteen hundred dollar dress may get wet. Yet it’s all worth the beauty, the love felt & the memory made."
